COUNSELLING & COACHING with CBT in St Neots

Do you feel like you’re not living your life the way you would like to? Are you struggling with stress, worry or negative thinking and falling into destructive habits and patterns of behaviour? Do you feel lacking in confidence which may be holding you back in your career?

And all of this is leaving you feeling stuck and unable to find a way out of your difficulties.

Your challenges may be work-related or personal but it’s likely one may be tipping over into the other.

Having space to make sense of and learn helpful ways of addressing your difficulties can help to put things in to perspective.

Therapy or coaching with a CBT approach can help you to:

    • Challenge constant negative thoughts

    • Turn unhelpful thoughts into more balanced thinking

    • Widen your perspective and ability to see options and feel better about yourself

    • Learn strategies to help you manage your mental health for the rest of your life

  • Feel better in a shorter space of time compared to other talking therapies

What is CBT?

CBT is a talking therapy. It helps you to challenge more negative or inaccurate thinking and learn more helpful ways of reacting in everyday life situations. Changing the way you think and what you do can help you to feel better.

Unlike some other talking therapies, CBT focuses on your current challenges rather than on your past. It aims to improve your state of mind by teaching you to spot the links between your thoughts, actions and behaviours.

Fundamentally, CBT will require you to carry out specific, structured therapeutic activities between the sessions to build your own self-efficacy and embed new behaviours or emotional responses.

Using CBT techniques as the mode of treatment, we will find new ways of dealing with your problems and set goals for what you want to change. Ultimately, it can help you to feel more in control of your life.

about me

Hi, I’m Julia, a counsellor and coach specialising in CBT techniques and I have worked extensively in the world of careers. I’m passionate about supporting others to bring positive and importantly, sustainable change in their lives.

My approach to counselling is person-centred but I largely draw on techniques from CBT to help identify and challenge unhelpful thoughts and to learn practical self-help strategies. I believe we can never stop growing and learning about ourselves and that CBT can act as a life skill that we can always use to keep check of our own thinking.

Due to my own personal experience with bereavement and my passion for writing, I have developed a free, online course to support others through the pain of grief – www.evolvida.co.uk. Some of my articles have been published in health magazines.

As a coach and trainer, I have also worked for a number of organisations including MIND delivering training on mental health in the workplace.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling (BACP) and abide by their professional ethics and standards.

…. Outside of work, I enjoy the outdoors and regularly take brisk walks in my local park or the countryside and I also practise yoga. I also sing jazz and perform in a trio in the Cambridgeshire area. Over the years I have had to fight through my own performance anxiety! Now, I just enjoy the occasional gigs and open mic sessions. As I would say to my clients “What’s the worst that can happen?!”
